Licoriceland started manufacturing in 1982 and is a privately owned Australian company.
The company aim was to produce healthy natural Licorice with no salt or artificial flavours in it ingredients. The company is famous for producing Licorice covered in sweetened carob and the combination became very popular particularly in the health food market with molasses and honey which is a healthy and delicious alternative.
Some 10 years ago this company made the breakthrough and developed Gluten free Licorice which is believed to be a world first. The major change involved is to find a replacement for wheat flour which contains Gluten. It is estimated that there are over 300,000 coeliac disease (CD) sufferers in Australia who have total intolerance to Gluten. Further research indicates that up to one in five have problems from gluten type foods. It’s important that coeliacs and other people with Gluten intolerance can now enjoy a taste of Licorice.
This product is also exported worldwide and we only use the finest Ingredients that are sourced locally in Queensland where fresh molasses is plentiful and a special health food.
Licorice has enjoyed a reputation as a medicinal product for thousands of years, used to sooth coughs and colds, calm peptic ulcers, bladder and kidney ailments and aid in treating arthritis.
Licorice is also spelt Liquorice.
